Who Is Vajrapāṇi Bodhisattva?

Vajrapāṇi Bodhisattva is a lay disciple of the Buddha and one of the Eight Great Bodhisattvas. He personally received and transmitted the Vajrayāna teachings from the Buddha. He holds a vajra in his right hand, symbolizing the firm and indestructible bodhicitta.

Just as Venerable Ānanda preserved and passed on the Buddha’s Mahāyāna teachings, Vajrapāṇi took responsibility for preserving the Vajrayāna teachings and transmitting them to later generations.

Benefit of the Vajrapani Mantra

Vajrapani Mantra is often chanted to remove negative energy and protect us. Vajrapani transforms our fear and feelings of being powerless into action and strength.
