A Tribute to the Martsang Kagyu Lineage Masters
Honouring the Legacy of Choje Marpa Rinpoche
The Martsang Kagyu lineage carries a rich and precious heritage, shaped by generations of accomplished masters whose wisdom, dedication, and exemplary lives have illuminated the path for those who follow.
On this auspicious occasion, we gather in remembrance of our revered lineage founder, Choje Marpa Rinpoche, commemorating his parinirvana and enlightenment through The Compilation of All Mahāmudrā Instructions: An Offering to the Martsang Lamas.
Throughout the history of the Martsang Kagyu lineage, the great masters have devoted themselves to the cultivation and realisation of the teachings, guided by unwavering commitment, profound insight, and heartfelt devotion to their teachers. Their lives and accomplishments stand as enduring examples of what can be achieved through sincere practice, perseverance, and the guidance of a precious lineage.
As later generations, we look to these masters with deep respect and admiration. Their legacy is not only preserved in the teachings they transmitted, but also embodied in their conduct, their dedication, and their commitment to the path. By learning from their example, we aspire to deepen our understanding, strengthen our practice, and carry forward the lineage with humility, diligence, and a genuine sense of responsibility.
The offering of the Lama Chopa on this meaningful occasion is an expression of our gratitude and reverence for Choje Marpa Rinpoche and all the masters who have safeguarded and transmitted these precious teachings. It is also an opportunity to renew our commitment to the path they have shown us, recognising that to honour those who came before us is, above all, to learn from their example and endeavour to follow in their footsteps.
With heartfelt respect, we pay tribute to our lineage founder and all the great masters who have contributed to the continuity of this tradition. May their wisdom continue to inspire future generations, and may we prove worthy of their kindness by preserving what we have received and passing it on with integrity, care, and dedication.
Making Offerings on This Auspicious Day
An offering, however simple, can be a meaningful expression of respect, gratitude, and remembrance.
For those who are unable to attend the ceremony in person, participation may take place quietly at home. A candle, a piece of fruit, or a glass of clean water placed before one's altar can serve as a gesture of appreciation for the lineage masters and the teachings they have entrusted to future generations.
What matters most is not the size or form of the offering, but the sincerity with which it is made. Through this simple act, we remember the kindness of those who came before us and reaffirm our aspiration to learn from their example.
Compassion in Action
In remembrance of Choje Marpa Rinpoche and in honour of the values upheld by our lineage, Martsang Kagyu will also undertake charitable and compassionate activities on this auspicious day, including the liberation of animals.
These activities reflect a commitment to compassion, respect for life, and consideration for the well-being of all living beings. They offer a practical way to express the values we have inherited from our lineage masters, allowing respect and gratitude to find expression through thoughtful and compassionate action.
As we remember the lives and accomplishments of the great masters, may their example continue to guide us. May we cultivate greater wisdom and compassion, remain humble in our learning, and carry forward their legacy through our own conduct and actions.
To honour the masters who came before us is to remember their example, value what they have entrusted to us, and dedicate ourselves to carrying their legacy forward.
